What happens when Pacific Rim meets Back to the Future and Galaxy Quest? Suicide Jockeys delivers a mashup of kaiju fighting, time travel, and washed-up Comic-Con appearances to bring an entertaining and wild ride.
When a crew of kaiju fighters disbands after a terrible time traveling incident, they each pursue their own way of life. Denver, the leader of the group, becomes a drunken, washed out version of himself, attending conventions to make enough money to keep on drinking.
Denver is approached by an investor as the first day of the con is ending, who needs his help to uncover something odd that seems to be happening with the timeline. Is this due to the events from the final battle of the Suicide Jockeys? Or is something else happen that first caused these kaijus to appear and threaten the world?
The line work by Davi Leon Davis is perfect for this style of comic and focuses in on our characters and their kaiju-busting machines. Grant weaves a wonderful sci-fi tale that has some all-too-relevant nods to current events in our world while building up its own timeline. With appropriate humor and a very reluctant hero, Suicide Jockeys is sure to be a story you won’t want to miss!
